Sean R SmithSean R. Smith was born and raised in Winter Park, Florida. Since his birth he has been raised in an art community and exposed to many different artists, and forms of art.

In 1997, Sean became interested in video and TV production and photography. He pursued his interested intently through 2001.

In 2001, he received his first grant award from Healthy Community Initiative of Greater Orlando (HCI) to produce a short educational documentary on Winter Park High School and its community of students. The final product (completed late early 2002) was used by HCI across the state of Florida at presentations to adults and other high school students.

Between 2001 and 2003 Sean freelanced for the central Florida Community. He produced several works for the High Schools and other not-for-profit organizations.

The American Cancer Society of Central Florida sout out Sean in 2002 to produce a five-minute promotional video for the Winter Park "Relay For Life" event. The video was submitted to the State of Florida Gordy Award competition and placed third. Sean followed up on his sucess in 2002 and produced the second place winner in 2003.

In 2003 he moved to Lawrence, Kansas and began to study business at the University of Kansas. After a year and a half, Sean decided he would be better suited for a degree in the arts. He started to pursue his BFA degree in art in 2005.

During his time at KU, Sean participated in the Study Abroad Program twice that summer. First to Italy (Milan & Venice) and second to Greece (Athens, Katohi). This was an life changing experience for him and he looks forward to returning in the future.

Sean graduated from the University of Kansas in 2007 with a BFA in Art with a consintration in Sculpture. While in Kansas he continued to freelance for the Lawrence community, organizations on campus and others in the mid-west region.

Choosing a degree in art over a degree in Film?
Having been raised in the art community in Central Florida, Sean recognized the value of a degree in fine art. He became a key contact throughout his department for technology and content creation. For more information on his work please visit his fine art site.

In March 2007 Sean attended Apple Certified Training courses for Final Cut Pro and Motion. He has received his Pro Certification in Final Cut Pro.

A Jayhawker at heart, Sean has relocated to the New York City and is working full time in post-production.
